- How do I start a capture?
- Start One Shot from the menu bar, or use the default shortcut if you have not changed it. Drag to select a region, capture a window, or press F for a fullscreen capture.
- Can I change the default One Shot shortcut?
- Yes. The One Shot shortcut is configurable in TrarrenShot settings, so the default shortcut is not the only way to start capture.
- How do I take a scroll capture?
- Start One Shot from the menu bar, or use the default shortcut if you have not changed it. Capture a region, then use the Scroll Capture tool in the editor toolbar. Scroll the page or document at a steady pace while TrarrenShot stitches the frames into one long image.
- Does TrarrenShot scroll pages for me?
- No. You scroll manually while TrarrenShot automatically stitches the frames into a long screenshot.
- What is QR Code Detection?
- TrarrenShot detects QR codes in captured screens, lets you preview the decoded content, and allows you to copy the result or open supported web links.
- Does Scroll Capture need Accessibility permission?
- No. Scroll Capture does not require Accessibility permission. You scroll the page or document manually while TrarrenShot stitches the captured frames. Screen Recording permission is required for screen capture; Accessibility permission may be needed separately for certain global hotkeys or system integrations.
- What languages does OCR support?
- OCR supports Auto, English, Traditional Chinese, Simplified Chinese, Japanese, Korean, German, Spanish, French, Italian, Portuguese, and Russian.
- How do I use OCR?
- Capture the area containing text with One Shot. In the Inline Editor, click the OCR tool, then review the result, correct or add text, and copy the final text.
- What is the Inline Editor?
- The Inline Editor is TrarrenShot's lightweight post-capture editing step. Annotate immediately and refine the final capture area without starting the screenshot over.
- What is the difference between the Inline Editor and Live Canvas?
- The Inline Editor annotates captured content after One Shot. Live Canvas annotates the live desktop before or without taking a screenshot.
- How do I hide sensitive information?
- Use the pixelate tool in the editor to obscure sensitive parts of a screenshot.
- How do I use the color picker?
- During One Shot, move the pointer to a color and press C to copy its HEX value.
- What is the preview window?
- After copy, save, or share, TrarrenShot shows a floating output thumbnail so you can confirm the result, pin it, drag it, or open the picture or its folder.
- Can I change the preview position or auto-dismiss behavior?
- Yes. The preview supports left or right placement and can close automatically after 3, 5, or 10 seconds, or stay open.
- Does TrarrenShot need Screen Recording permission?
- Yes. macOS requires Screen Recording permission for screenshot apps to capture screen content. TrarrenShot uses that system permission for capture access.
- Is TrarrenShot free?
- Yes. Basic is free to download and use for the core screenshot workflow; it is not a trial. Some workflows have applicable Basic branding rules; see Pricing for the full distinction.
- What is included in Plus?
- Plus is a one-time Lifetime Plus purchase with no recurring subscription. It unlocks Customize Toolbar, Preview Quick Access, watermark removal where applicable, and current and future local Plus features. It does not promise cloud, hosted, storage, collaboration, or separately operated online services. Final purchase pricing may vary by region according to App Store pricing.
- Is my data sent to a server?
- Recognition, stitching, annotation, and export preparation run locally on your Mac.
- What is Live Canvas in TrarrenShot?
- Live Canvas is a screen-annotation layer over the live Mac desktop for presentations, screen sharing, demos, and remote reviews. It is not a separate collaborative whiteboard workspace.
- How can I draw on screen during a presentation on Mac?
- Open Live Canvas from the menu bar or press Command + Shift + backtick, then draw over the desktop. Press Command + backtick to switch to click-through and use the apps underneath; press it again to return to drawing.
- Can I annotate during screen sharing without switching apps?
- Yes. Live Canvas is designed for display-based screen sharing and recording. Share or record the display that contains the annotations; a window-only capture may exclude the overlay.
- Is TrarrenShot a screen annotation tool for Zoom or Teams?
- Yes. Live Canvas provides an on-screen annotation layer for Zoom, Teams, demos, support calls, and remote reviews without moving the discussion into a separate whiteboard app.
- Is Advanced Editor available?
