Getting Started

TrarrenShot One Shot starts one Mac capture flow: click a window, drag to select a region, or press F to capture the display where the capture started. If the window you choose is behind another app, TrarrenShot brings its captured image forward before opening the Inline Editor, where you can refine the final capture area.

Getting Started with TrarrenShot

Learn the current TrarrenShot workflow: One Shot, editor tools, Scroll Capture, OCR, color sampling, and export.

  1. 1.Start One Shot: Start One Shot from the menu bar, or use the default shortcut if you have not changed it.
  2. 2.Choose what to capture: Drag to select a region, or press F for a fullscreen capture.
  3. 3.Edit the screenshot: The screenshot opens in the editor with annotation, OCR, and Scroll Capture tools.
  4. 4.Export: Use Copy, Save, or Share when the result is ready.

Keep in mind

One Shot captures visible windows, regions, or a display. For content that extends beyond the screen, choose an editor post-capture setting and start Scroll Capture from the editor.

Scroll Capture for Mac

Scroll Capture combines frames from a selected region into one long screenshot while you scroll manually.

Use it for

  • • Long web pages, documentation, and conversations
  • • Content views that extend beyond the visible screen

Keep in mind

Select a region that contains the scrollable content and scroll it manually at a steady pace.

Annotation

TrarrenShot's Inline Editor lets you add shapes, arrows, text, drawing, highlights, pixelation, magnification, and step markers immediately after One Shot. Adjust the available visual settings for the selected annotation, then refine the final capture area before exporting.

Annotation tools appear after you open a One Shot capture in the editor.

Note Annotation for Clearer Screenshots

TrarrenShot Note Annotation lets you add numbered frames or arrows and write an explanation for each one in the One Shot editor. When you export a screenshot with notes, the result includes a numbered notes panel beside the capture.

Use it for

  • • Explain specific UI details in a bug report or design review.
  • • Pair numbered callouts with instructions in a screenshot.

Keep in mind

Note Annotation is available in the One Shot editor, not in Live Canvas.

OCR Text Recognition on Mac

TrarrenShot OCR extracts text from the current One Shot capture in the Inline Editor. Choose Auto or one of 11 language modes, then review the result in a separate OCR window, correct or add text, and copy it.

Use it for

  • • Copy an error message or command shown in a screenshot.
  • • Turn text in an app, webpage, or document capture into editable text.

Keep in mind

OCR runs on the current One Shot capture; select the area that contains text before opening the Inline Editor.

QR Code Detection on Mac

During the One Shot workflow, automatic QR detection can scan the captured screen or its current selection in the Inline Editor. You can view the decoded value, copy it, or open supported HTTP, HTTPS, and TrarrenShot links without launching a separate scanner.

Use it for

  • • Read a QR code visible in a screenshot without switching to a separate scanner.
  • • Copy a decoded value into a browser, message, or document.

Keep in mind

QR detection runs only when Auto Detect QR Codes is enabled in General Settings.

Live Canvas

Live Canvas is a screen-annotation layer over the live Mac desktop for drawing, highlighting, and guiding attention while you work or present.

Preview and workflow

When enabled, TrarrenShot shows a floating thumbnail after you copy, save, or share a screenshot. It lets you confirm the output and use the available follow-up actions without reopening the file.

Preview can be turned off in Settings, so no thumbnail appears when it is disabled.

Customize Toolbar on Mac

Customize Toolbar lets Plus users set separate One Shot and Live Canvas layouts. Reorder annotation tools, hide annotation tools, actions, or utilities you do not use, and reset each group to its default layout.

Use it for

  • • Put the annotation tools you use most near the start of the toolbar.
  • • Hide output actions or utilities that do not belong in your workflow.

Keep in mind

Customize Toolbar is available with TrarrenShot Plus.

Color Picker for Mac

TrarrenShot Color Picker is part of the One Shot overlay. Point at a screen color and press C to copy its value. Choose sRGB or Display P3 as the color space, and HEX, RGB, HSB, or CSS as the output format.

Use it for

  • • Copy a color from an app or webpage into a design or document.
  • • Record a color value while reviewing a screenshot.

Keep in mind

Color Picker is available only while the One Shot overlay is open.
